Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior political figure commented the incident left him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
